SSI Explained
Supplemental Security Income Benefits
Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, is paid to people with little or no income and limited resources who are disabled. To determine whether a person is disabled for SSI, the Social Security Administration uses the same 5 step analysis that it does for Social Security disability. If you are entitled to SSI, the amount of your check depends on your living arrangement and the amount of your income.
